In his second NBA season, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Superstar forward Kevin Durant is scheduled to get his own signature shoe. Unfortunately all we have to show you is a picture of the shoe in its early design stages. Still, you can get a sense of what they are supposed to look like. They sport a leather construction  with a kd logo on the ankle area. The inner lining sports a gradient design which fades from yellow to blue, through shades of orange, red and purple.  They are scheduled to release in January 2009, so we’ll definitely keep you posted. Here are a few detailed pictures of the New Balance M1500UK, which are a selected edition and were created in England. They feature a butter soft leather upper in an all black colorway, along with white contrast stitching and midsole that make for a great design. They are expensive, retail for ¥26,400 or about $271, but true fans no that comfort has no limitation.

Nike Air Force 2 - “Nintendo Wii”

Nike and Nintendo have collaborated to design a new sneaker. They have used the Nike Air Force 2 and added inspiration from the Nintendo Wii. This shoe features a multi-textured shoe upper. The colors used are white, metallic silver elephant, white leather and white mesh. This shoe will go on sale in April 2009.

The toe box is a solo piece that has very neat rows of perforations. It ends with a panel of leather crossing the upper from end to end. The midsection has a segment in clear plastic, like a window, that is framed by the surrounding leather. If the user wears colored socks, they will show and make a complement to the shoe. I like this feature of the shoe.

The ankle collar of the shoe is white and below it is the patterned leather. The lower part of the heel is in white leather again. The design of the grey colored frame around the ankle and heel makes the shoe look interesting. The white Nike swoosh is attached over the clear plastic panel. The tongue has a Nike swoosh set within a mock button to switch on/off the Nintendo Wii. The back of the heel has a small reinforcement. The midsole is thick and has a no fuss design.

[NEW RELEASE] NIKE COURT FORCE LUX

Thursday, November 13, 2008

Throughout Nike’s 36-year history, innovation has always been at the forefront of the company’s design ethos. Bringing together heritage and the most advanced design and technical innovations available in the recently launched Nike Sportswear collection, Nike introduces its latest design – the Nike Court Force High Lux. This is the first time the “Lux” properties have been seen on a shoe from Nike and moving forward, “Lux” will be injected into different facets of Nike’s premium design. With four to five Lux models released each year, styles will consist of Nike classics and new innovations.

Lux concept models are recognizable by distinct characteristics: a basic and wearable color palette built with premium materials. As all Nike products are made with superb quality, Lux products are built with meticulous and detailed craftsmanship. Nike designers chose a supple premium nubuck upper and a glove-like leather lining that requires no break-in.  These will only get better with age.  Each of the two Nike Court Force Lux styles offered is comprised of two colors only – one Grey, the other Black with a simple Sail colored outsole.  The passion is in the details and nuance. In order to designate these as truly special we focused on a couple of key callouts: a small woven "Lux" label on the heel and a single Sail (colored) eyelet stamped with a "Lux" callout.

The original Nike Court Force High was launched in 1987 and is a known cousin to the legendary Nike Air Force 1. Constructed of soft full-grain leather, the shoe has a rubber cupsole with Center-of-Pressure    and concentric circle design in the ball area, it also is detailed with anatomical flex grooves. Additionally, the Nike Court Force High is extremely lightweight with excellent ankle padding for court performance. The forefoot straps and molded counter provide support throughout the shoe. Although the Nike Court Force started its journey in the late eighties as a silent companion to Nike’s earlier basketball shoes, it has in recent years, been continuously updated in low and high versions with a variety of colors and materials and are a favorite for designers and customizers everywhere. Now we hit the ultimate level of craftsmanship with the Nike Court Force Lux.

The Nike Court Force Lux will be available at the Nike Sportswear store at 21 Mercer Street in New York City and 6-14-5, Jingu-mae, Shibuya-ku in Tokyo, Japan, as well as select Nike Sportswear retailers.

New Balance A03 CT

New Balance A03 CT - #1

This year we have seen a lot more shoes that are hybrid to look like hiking boots and here’s another. This time it’s the New Balance A03 CT.

These kicks offer a mix of blue suede, black nylon and mesh, along with a fleece collar to give them a very wintery look. You can get these shoes right now at select New Balance retailers.

I like the combination of the black with the blue and unlike other shoe-boots, these don’t look too clunky. Via High Snobiety.

Tigger Air Force Ones

Thursday, November 13, 2008

D@ Prince Customs created a pair of Nike Dunks last year based on the lovable character Tigger. A client recently asked the designer to repeat this feat on a pair of white Air Force Ones. I found the results of this second effort by D@ Prince at his NikeTalk post linked here.

The left shoe shows Tigger landing after a healthy pounce while the right shoe shows Tigger’s smiling face up close. Instead of using black paint on the middle panel like his Dunks, D@ Prince added some black/orange stripes with a white background to keep the focus on Tigger. The designer added the name Zaneta on each heel to customize these shoes for the client.

I think D@ Prince acquitted himself well in his second try at a pair of Tigger-themed sneakers. His replication of the beloved cartoon character was impeccable on both shoes but I think that the black/orange elements frame Tigger better on the Air Force Ones.
